I have sometimes described a labyrinth walk as:
Prayers from the soul,
expressed with the soles.
Or as a journey on the soles- for the soul.
It’s a cute little word play but I wonder if there isn't a bit more to it.
Forgive me if I sound like Dr Seuss but :
If the whole is a sum of its parts and the parts are the sum of the whole … then the palms of our hands, the bottoms of our feet, the frame of our face, may each be reflections of our soul.
These pages are the result of my exploration of the histories & traditions of the sole as it expresses the Soul.
You'll read about foot washing and view some related art. There are links to the Labyrinth & Legends pages for information about this method of walking prayer.
Mehendi is the Indian art form and tradition of staining the brides hands and feet with beautiful and intricate designs.
Any exploration of the feet must include reflexology so I'm starting with a resource page for now.
And, coming soon: a page on pilgrimages.
Have I forgotten anything?
Please let me know - if you have ideas or suggestions:
And remember to bring your soles and participate in the Candle Labyrinth event on September 16th. Be there ( in person or in Spirit) or be square!
